My first year as a Los Angeles Clippers Dancer was exciting, stressful, challenging, and rewarding! I was
overwhelmed with the amount of choreography we were given. I remember practicing all the time outside of our normal practice hours. We video-taped all our routines, so I practiced in my living room, at the gym, while I was walking, while driving – I didn’t stop. We map our routines on the court with “boxes” and “T’s”, so even if you knew the choreography really well, you still have an added challenge of being on your mark for every move.
Thankfully, I got through it with only a couple bobbles here and there. We had over 35 routines, each 1-2 minutes each! My memory skills definitely improved. I also learned how to do make-up really well, (we are sponsored by MAC), and I also learned how to maintain a healthy diet. It was difficult at times, especially during the holidays when there are so many yummy treats surrounding me, so it was a learning process. Exposing my stomach at every game was definitely something I had to get used to. I had to make sure I didn’t eat anything before a game that would make me bloated! We had a calendar shoot, which was so fun! But it unfortunately didn’t get published.
