I had such a great time with Melissa Henig, and I unfortunately couldn’t include everything in the video. Here is a follow-up Q&A that digs a little deeper into the nutrients:

ActionJacquelyn: What is the purpose of the Skinny Green Cleanse?

MelissaHenig: Cleansing gives our over worked digestive system a break. We are overloading our digestive track with processed foods, sugars, grains, meat and dairy. This causes stress on our organs and our bodies can’t keep up and need a break. Digesting food can take more energy than running, hiking, or bike riding. AJ: What is actually in the cleanse?

MH: The Skinny Green Cleanse is a raw plant based cleanse made from organic fruits, vegetables, and green plants. It’s a nutrient dense way to cleanse, flushing your body with greens pushing toxic waste out.

AJ: What are the health benefits of ingredients in the Skinny Green Cleanse?

MH: The raw vegetable juices in pints 1&4 are cleansing and nourishing straight to the cells. Carrots, Celery, apple, cucumber are cleansing your liver, kidneys, and gallbladder. AJ: What’s your background with raw food?

MH: I’ve eaten an 80% raw food diet for 2 years and studied under a raw food chef in Chicago. I grew up in a holistic house hold and drank carrot juice when my friends were drinking soda. My knowledge comes from daily experience in living the raw lifestyle and extensive research.

AJ: Any Personal changes you saw in your body once you started doing monthly cleanses?

MH: Yes!! After cleansing I feel refreshed, lighter, and have a ton of energy. Cleansing keeps me on track with healthy eating habits. I always feel so good after, I want to keep going!

AJ: What does it mean to detox your body?

MH: Detoxing is removing toxic waste and impurities from your body. Toxins can build up due to food we are eating leaving waste in the colon, environmental pollution, and stress. If you use chemicals in your lotions that soak into your skin, chemicals in toothpaste, shampoo,soap etc… If you eat packaged processed food with preservatives and chemicals. If you ever are behind a bus breathing in exhaust, breathing in paint, breathing in household cleaning products, breathing in LA’s air. If you’re ever constipated. Are you tired? Are you addicted to sugar? Do you have weight to lose? You probably need to detox..

AJ: What is maca powder?

MH: Maca is a root that grows in the high mountains of Puru. It’s known to increase stamina, sustain energy, increase sexual function and balance hormones. It naturally contains vitamins, minerals, proteins, tannins, complex alkaloids and other phytochemicals.

AJ: What is  a superfood?

MH: Superfoods are foods that are naturally high in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients.  Phytonutrients are known to have disease and cancer fighting properties.  Some other superfoods along with Maca are Acai, Goji Berries, Bee Pollen, Spirulina, Chorella, and Cacao.

AJ: Anything else you want to add?
