I’ve recently been doing a ton of research on GRASS-FED beef. There is so much information to learn about this topic, and it is fascinating! The cliche quote: “You are what you eat” applies to yourself and the animals you’re eating. If my cows are eating grains and crap (G&C), then their muscles are filled with G&C, and the meat I’m eating is filled with G&C! It’s just a long line of G&C that keeps getting passed down!! And I DON’T WANT NO G&C IN ME!
There’s no need to completely eliminate red-meat if you know which meat to consume. I realize that a lot of people get turned off by the horror stories of what’s in their meat, and I agree – there are a lot of unhealthy meat options out there. But I’m here to let you know that if you like red-meat, there is a healthy option that is actually good for you! It’s GRASS-FED Beef!
Reasons to consume GRASS-FED:
1. prevents disease
2. improves brain function
3. helps you loose weight!
GRASS-FED vs. GRAIN-FED
When cows eat GRASS:
- Omega-3 (fights cancer, also makes your tissues more receptive to chemotherapy if you ever did get cancer)
- the fats in their muscles don’t have too much Omega-6
- contains Trans-Vaccenic Acid (TVA), (speeds fat loss, fights cancer, and improves brain function)
When cows are GRAIN-FED or CRAP-FED: (and I mean crap! like grains, stale bread, cereal, chicken feathers, or city garbage! and most cows are unfortunately eating this way)
- the longer the steer consumes grains, the more the level of Omega 3’s decrease
- contains HIGH levels of polyunsaturated fat (BAD FAT!)
- contains HIGH levels of Omega 6’s (We don’t need too much Omega 6 in our bodies)
