We’ve all done it.
Our alarm goes off and we fumble to find our phone to shut it off ASAP.
Then one snoozed alarm turns into 3 snoozed alarms and before you know it you’re behind on your morning schedule and starting your day off frazzled.
Not only that, your morning Stretchy Fit workout ends up taking a back seat and gets skipped for the day.
It’s no secret that I love my coffee in the mornings… BUT I know that it’s not for everyone so I am bringing you my 4 best tips to feeling more awake in the morning so that you can start the day feeling refreshed and ready to slay.
1. Stimulate your mind! 🧠
Start your morning off with journaling or meditation. I use the journal prompts inside my Stretchy Fit App to get my mind going. You can also keep a journal on your nightstand so that when you wake up it’s right there ready to go. If you don’t know what to journal about, a great starting point is creating a gratitude list and reflecting on all the amazing things going on in your life. Because what you focus on is where your energy flows. Find something to get excited about. Just waking up and having breath in your lungs is exciting. Revel and meditate on the small joys! The more you focus on what you’re grateful for, the more you’ll attract things to be grateful for. Powerful!
2. Take a cold shower. 🥶
I KNOW in these cooler temperatures it’s easy to want to stay wrapped up like a burrito in your bed but this hack WORKS. Start with 5-10 seconds of cold water and work your way up. Not only does it give your body a zing of energy and alertness it’s also beneficial for your immune system. Scientific studies have shown that cold showers increase the amount of white blood cells in your body which protect your body against diseases.
If you’re not ready to go all in on the cold shower – splashing cold water on your face works too 🙂
3. LET THE SUNSHINE IN! ☀️
I know that black out curtains are a very popular trend, but I am not an advocate for those. When we allow the natural sunlight to come into our space in the morning it alerts our internal clock (your circadian rhythm) that it’s time to wake up and makes the adjustment from sleepy hollow to sunshine state of mind sooo much easier.
If you wake up before the sun you can still experience a similar sensation by just ripping off the band-aid and jumping out of bed and turning on the lights.
4. Exercise! 💦
This is why I am always mixing up the workouts in my Stretchy Fit App. I want the classes to be something you look forward to, not something that feels like a chore. Starting your day with a sweat sesh is so powerful. Not only will you have increased energy and be burning calories all day long, you will also start off your day feeling accomplished and badass.
No more waking up on the wrong side of the bed.
You are now officially in training to become a morning person.
Can’t wait to hear from you!
