I get asked this question all the time..
What’s the difference between barre and pilates?
Barre & pilates are sisters, not twins. While they have some similarities, they also have a few notable differences.
Both of these workout styles are:
- Full Body
- Low impact
- Minimal Equipment
AKA: perfect to do at home.
🩰 Barre incorporates ballet-inspired movements that challenge your balance and build strength through fiery and strategic repetition patterns. You can count on small, repetitive movement sequences that are slow and controlled, and target the smaller muscle groups. The only equipment you need for these types of classes is a Barre to hold on to for stabilization – however, a chair works just as well. Sometimes I add ankle weights to add a little spice.

🔥 Pilates is a core-focused powerhouse workout that combines both strength and flexibility. In a pilates class you’ll be moving through sweeping motions that utilize the whole body for a fluid, graceful physique. Again, no equipment is required but I personally love to add a resistance band or sliders (socks) to up the difficulty.

These workouts will improve posture, build lean muscle, decrease stress levels, build confidence and help you get in touch with your body. What more could a girl ask for?
